SANDBAR + GRILL Situated at the heart of one of the region's newest sea-change destinations, the Sandbar + Grill has certainly earned its place in the Casuarina community. But when Toby Bamford and Greg Pieper first took on the task of building the business up from nothing, they admit they sometimes felt like a couple of early explorers. At that time there were few houses and even fewer residents, and the guys faced the challenge of establishing a business amid barren sand dunes and dusty building sites.
But they always knew what they were doing and as Casuarina's population has grown, Sandbar + Grill has become a real neighbourhood hub buzzing with activity. With its funky relaxed decor and colourful sixties style, the bar and restaurant are truly inviting. Chef Greg serves up hearty, healthy, beach food that appeals to a broad range of people from families and singles, to parties and large functions.
